Erik Karlsson sat out Tuesday's game after news broke of the loss of his unborn child. He and his wife are mourning the loss and taking time off together. The baby was due to be born in April of this year. The couple has been posting tons of pictures on their social media of gender reveals, ultra sounds, and baby items.
Life

This horrible and tragic event can remind us all that although we invest a lot of time, emotions, and money into these teams and players, there is more to life than the game of hockey. We get so caught up in when our teams win and lose and if they'll be getting good draft picks. It becomes an obsession, which can be easy to do, but I think it's really important to take a step back and see hockey for what it really is; a game. These players are all humans just like you and me, and they have struggles in their own lives too. The next time you're mad that we don't know why a player sits out a game or beg for a paparazzi picture of your favorite player, remember that these are just people, playing a game....
Karlsson is a player that tons of people love and idolize and while he isn't a "favorite" player in our home, we sympathize immensely with his current situation and we are wishing him and his family the best.
