I was joking at the beginning of the season when I said "Vegas is going to be AMAZING this year. I bet they make it to playoffs"....Here we are several months later and not only have the dominated Playoffs, they are now Western Conference Champions and will be heading into the Stanley Cup final very soon. So basically I'm a hockey genius is what this all comes down to.

Rooting for the Underdog
There is nothing greater in sports, than the amazing underdog story. I've never watched March Madness in my life, but when the Loyola Ramblers took off, I supported them all the way. Why? Because the underdog/Cinderella victory is the heartwarming...and I went to a school in the same the conference as them, so they had to have my support! Vegas has done the same. Now we can argue all day long about whether their roster actually makes them underdogs, but being an expansion team, to me, that makes them the underdog. Yes, they have seasoned vets supporting them all the way, but it's a totally different dynamic when you have nothing to lose during your 1st year.
So many people said that hockey wouldn't work in Vegas and that people just wouldn't support it, but as you can see, things are very different there. I would love to be a fly on the wall in their front office. I wonder how many of them expected all this buzz (and work) during the 1st year. However, you do have to take into account that the team is winning and as a Hawks fan, I know what fans tend to do when the team starts going downhill. We will have to see if Vegas can keep this momentum going and if their fans will actually stick around.
Vegas Visit
We are heading to Vegas on Sunday and I am really hoping that Vegas has a home game while we are there. We will never get tickets lol, but being in that atmosphere is going to be so much fun! I can't wait! Also, I'm on the hunt for a Golden Knights souvenir. Just want to get a little piece of hockey history. P.S...if you have any ideas on what we should do while we are in Vegas, PLEASE comment below!
This is absolutely mind-blowing. For being a brand new team, they have done amazing. I will always be a Red Wings fan (even though they currently suck) but I have a soft spot for Vegas. There is nothing like being at home when your team is in the playoffs. Hope you have an awesome trip and get to see some great hockey, even if only on t.v.
