Funny thing is, I didn't even know that the Hawks held a grad cap contest. I had been searching Pinterest for weeks to find the perfect design. I pinned and pinned until I couldn't pin anymore but everything I found was overdone and basic.
About a week before graduation, the idea hit me! I HAD to make an original Blackhawks design. I honestly don't know why it took me so long to think of it. I searched for hours for cool Blackhawks designs, but again, I found nothing that grabbed my interest. So I drove straight to the craft store and I just bought some basic supplies; markers, scrapbook paper, and stickers.

I wanted my grad cap to be original and reflect who I am. I scrapped several ideas before I landed on the final design! I am one hundred percent happy with the results! P.S: If you want to see more pics like these, check out my Instagram!
"One Goal. One Grad": What it Means to Me
The quote "One Goal. One Grad" had a lot of different meanings for me. It has been a goal of mine since I was very little to go to college. My dream school was Harvard actually. I have been telling my parents that I was going to go to Harvard since I was about 5 years old. I didn't quite make it there, but I achieved my goal of graduating nonetheless. I am also, a first generation college graduate on my Dad's side of the family. It's something that I am extremely proud of. So as you can see it was my "One Goal" to graduate college and I am the "One (College) Grad" on my dad's side of the family.
I made my graduation cap to reflect myself and my passion for my favorite sports team. I loved it, so I really didn't need the approval of others, however, it did feel great to hear my friends and family say how great my cap looked. I never imagined that the Blackhawks would acknowledge my cap, let alone pick it out of the crowd as the best 2017 Blackhawks grad cap.

I just happened to be scrolling through my news feed, when I saw that the Hawks were holding a contest for the best Hawks designed grad cap. I decided that it couldn't hurt to post my picture. I forgot about the contest until about a week later, my phone started blowing up at work. I got about 200 notifications saying "So and So has like a tweet you were mentioned in"... I was so confused. I furiously opened my twitter app and there it was...The Chicago Blackhawks tweeted my picture and had chosen me as the winner! I started shaking. I immediately texted Clayton and told him the good news! About 2 minutes later, the Blackhawks messaged me to work out the details of my prize.
I should be receiving my personalized jersey any day now! I will upload pictures as soon as I have it! I would like to say thank you to the Chicago Blackhawks organization for choosing me to win the Grad Cap contest. Thank you for allowing me to be a very tiny part of Blackhawks history.
