I don't think I've ever been more pumped about an event in my ENTIRE LIFE! If you aren't a Walking Dead fan or missed the news, Survivor Sunday took place at select movie theaters across the country. AMC showed The Walking Dead finale and Fear the Walking Dead Premiere, commercial free, on the big screen. And let me tell you, The Walking Dead should be shown at a movie theater EVERY WEEK! It was freaking amazing! Besides that, I think we need to have a quick chat about the content of the finale.

A Battle to End Them All
This final war between Negan and Rick was a long time coming. I wanted an all-out war, the biggest brawl yet...but that's not really what we got. And although I thought I wanted to see the next World War, the way the writers decided to take the battle really was interesting. We see the Saviors surrounding Rick's group and we think this might be it for them. As the Saviors fire their guns, they backfire, injuring every Savior! Eugene had managed to manufacture the bullets in a way that would make them backfire. Just when I thought Eugene was pure evil, he manages to surprise me! Rick's group takes their opportunity and attacks. Rick and Negan go toe to toe of course and it all comes down to the two of them. We've seen battle after battle between good and evil on this show and they've all resulted in the death of a major character, but this time we got to see Rick slash Negan's throat, and just before letting him die, they saved him. This was Rick's way of honoring Carl's final wishes. The pick Negan up, stitch up his throat and carrying him back to Alexandria. Rick and Michonne, later in the episode, approach Negan on his deathbed to let him know how this is going to work. They decide that it would be best to make an example out of him, and let him rot in a cell.

I'm very intrigued at the idea of having Negan around for further seasons and I think it's a great way for Rick to honor his late son. I'm also really interested in how this whole Negan in captivity thing is going to play out. Is he going to plot escapes or will he just be broken by all of this?
Notable Moments
I have to talk about a few things that stood out to me. There are typically these quotable lines that come out of the show and my favorite moment of this episode is when Rick is sitting under the stained glass windows and says "My mercy prevails over my wrath." That moment meant that Carl wasn't going to die in vain and that Rick was going to do what it takes to honor his wishes.
Morgan, who is always a wealth of wisdom, says to Rick, "we are worse than we were" stuck with me. Morgan has gone through a whole spectrum of emotions and mental states while on the show and this quote showed exactly where he stands at the moment. He just is searching for who he is and where his true moral compass lies. We will all have to watch his progression of Fear the Walking Dead now.
Maggie is Pissing Me Off
Alright, so I did not see this coming at all! Maggie was visibly distraught when Rick decided to "save" Negan. I get it! I would want revenge too after the brutal death of Glen...but she's about to take this shit to far. When I saw her in the chair talking to Jesus, and I realized that she was plotting against Rick and Michonne. Girl, I know you're mad, but we need to chill out. Why don't you just go down to the infirmary and whack Negan if you're that mad? Like you don't need to wait to carry out this backstabbing on Rick. It's ridiculous. I literally tweeted

"Sorry, but AMC is going to have to kill a pregnant lady next season"
I'm not having it. And then I hear Daryl...UMMMM BYE!! Those are besties. These are all people that Rick has done a lot for and he trusts. At least Negan was a dick to your face...it's almost worse to be a backstabber. I'm just kept telling Clayton "I'm really mad" after we left the theater. I loved Maggie with all my heart, but that's over.
I also just don't see AMC killing off Rick...so everyone needs to brace themselves for the death of Maggie, Jesus, and most importantly Daryl. It's gonna like flashbacks to Rick and Shane...I am excited and a little sad to see how this plays out.
What are you feeling? I know I felt like I needed a glass of wine after that whirlwind. Please tell me I'm not the only one that wants to smack Maggie right now! And now we all go into Walking Dead hibernation until October.
@Lisa Wingerter Yes I agree with you. I was shocked that he did save Negan, but that whole evolution between him and Carl came full circle in that moment, and It was important for the show to go in that direction.
Okay so let me start by saying that I love JDM, and he has done a wonderful job with Negan. However, Negan needs to die. I was so happy to see Rick slash his throat. Like jumping up and down excited. Then when Rick says the line "Save him" I was 100% with Maggie. I think my reaction probably mirrored hers in outrage. I think she is taking it too far plotting against Rick and Michonne. I'm 100% with you that she just needs to sneak down and kill Negan herself. I'm kind of over her too at this point.
