July Goals; Things Have Changed...

I know I'm a little late on this one...but cut me some slack...i've been crazy busy. This little pup has kept me on my toes and my "free time" is usually spent cleaning and squeezing in some reading or netflix. The blog has definitely suffered and I need to work on that for sure!

But, with the addition of a new furry family member, and some big life changes, my goals and priorities have 100% changed! I'll be honest and admit that I've had a few breakdowns over the past month from all the stress that I have let consume me. But writing out these goals is cathartic and helps me relax...I know it's weird, but planning helps relax me lol

Puppy Goals

So it wouldn't be right if I didn't start with goals we have for our baby! She'll be 4 months old at the beginning of August and we CANT WAIT!! This means that she can go to the dog park, doggy day care, and other places with us! It's been a struggle to get her enough exercise and finding places that our fenced in to let her run....So we can't wait to be able to take her to run and play and socialize with other dogs.

In the mean time we are still actively training her. We do plan on putting her in obedience classes right away, but for now she is training at home with us. She is great at "Sit", "Come", and "Stay", with no distractions. I am actively working on "leave it" and "drop it" because she LOVES to pick up anything and everything outside.

We are also still working on the potty training. Her accidents are minimal, but it's still a work in progress! She will alert us if she has to go out, but not all the time. She's getting there. I will say that she is too smart for her own good.

Financial Goals

Debt payoff is our biggest priority at the moment. me are still saving, but minimally, due to the fact that we have some expenses that need paid off and I am aggressively paying down debt. We are focused on saving an extra $100 a month right now. That certainly isn't a lot and we'd love to be saving more, but for us, it makes sense to attack our debt before we put more in our emergency fund. But don't worry, we have enough in savings to take care of things if we should need it. Our overall goal is to save around $6,000 by the end of the year. We're well over half way there!

At the moment, we won't be making any extra payments to my student loan because we need to pay off our kitchen table and some other miscellaneous bills, like the vet....lol However, we do plan on using my full income from my new (2nd) job ;) to take care of any and all debt! It won't wipe out my student loans completely, but it's sure going to make a dent! I'm excited to continue to watch that number decrease!

Personal Goals

Since I am starting a new adventure at BU, I am very focused on being the very best I can be in terms of that. I am really looking forward to make new connections in the office. I hope to be able to meet and connect with people at Bradley and in the sports industry. I have a goal to make some time to meet with 2 new people in the office and pick their brains about the industry and get some advice from them!

Some of these goals are small, but they are all important in my eyes! I can't wait to crush these and see where we will go in August!

@BrookeLAllen that is awesome!! I don't know that I necessarily want to quit my job. I enjoy working and I want to work in sports which requires a lot of collaboration and being in the office, however, I don't want this debt looming over my head for the next 20 years. It's just way to much!

Good luck paying off your debts! I get to quit my job and work at home full time once we pay off our car.
