Hawks fans beware.

It's a weird thing being behind enemy lines.
Wearing a Blackhawks beanie bought me a lot of stares.

We all walked into Ballpark Village and it was apparent that we were in Blues territory. There were blue and yellow jerseys as far as the eye could see and the Blues vs. Flyers game was up on the big screen. I'll admit that Ballpark village is so cool and our lunch wasn't to bad either. The Blues got lit up by the Flyers too, so that was nice to watch as well ;)
Clayton's Fam Is So Extra
Like I said in my last travel post, Clayton and I aren't necessarily "upscale" kind of people. We don't need fancy things to feel good and we don't typically spend a lot of money on things like that. So, when we walked into the hotel that Clayton's parents had booked...I was in awe! Clayton of course has stayed in places like this growing up, but I certainly did not. We stayed at a Hilton, which already has "classy" in the name. This freaking hotel had a GIANT crystal chandelier and double staircase in the center of the lobby. I will say that Clayton's family has worked very hard for their lifestyle and they aren't rich by any means, but they certainly experience a totally different class of living than I did growing up. And beyond that, his parents are flashy or obnoxious about it at all! This hotel just amazed me, because as I said, I am not used to anything like this! We even had access to the executive lounge...which made me feel extra special. Our room was HUGE , as you can imagine. It didn't have a mini-fridge though. Kind of odd for a fancy hotel don't you think? I died over the bathroom. It had his and her sinks and the best shower ever! I made a mental note for my future dream home lol. Clayton and I slept like babies on that king sized pillow top mattress too!

Weekend Rink Warriors
The reason Clayton and I traveled to St. Louis this weekend was to watch his brother, Cody, play hockey. The Peoria Mustangs were facing their biggest rival, the Jr. Blues. Clayton used to play for the Mustangs as well and I intern for the team, so it's really fun to be able to make it to road games. Have any of you guys been to the Afton rink or know anything about the NA3HL? I would love to chat!! This was my first Mustangs road game and let me tell ya, it was INTENSE! The boys played Saturday and Sunday. The Saturday game went really well. They were playing smart and were going toe to toe with St. Louis. I should add that St. Louis is the best team in our division...with only 2 losses for the season. The Mustangs lost 2-3 Saturday, but we all thought they played really well. With these 2 teams being rivals, you can imagine that things got scrappy, but little did we know that things were going to get scrappy in the stands too! Being an intern for the Mustangs, I can't really go into detail or give my full opinion on the matter, but I will say that fans should always be respectful of the opposing side. We are all here to watch hockey and of course we all hope that our team wins. Lets just all get along, okay?!
Winter Weather Watches
We headed back home on Sunday and in proper Illinois fashion, sleet and ice rained down on us. It was so nasty out and it once again reminded me that I had to head back to work in the morning. Weekend getaways are the best...until you are hit with a heavy does of reality. Clayton and I were so exhausted from the weekend that we couldn't even decide what we wanted for dinner, so we asked my Instagram fam! Feel free to follow ;) Once we were finally home Cody came over to talk about how the weekend went. Clayton and Cody have an awesome bond and really respect each other when it comes to talking about hockey. Clayton will give Cody advice and Cody always wants to talk to Clayton about the game. I admire their bond and love seeing them interact!
I actually fell asleep on the couch listening to the 2 of them talk. I was dead tired and Clayton had to basically carry me into bed. The love is real guys! But anyway, that pretty much sums up our weekend. P.S. I created this little traveling collage and I would love some more travel recommendations:

If you have anywhere you're planning on going in 2018, let me know! Where have you been before and just can't wait to get back?!
