This is my 2nd valentines day with Clayton. I'll be the first to admit that our 1st V-day was not super fancy or cool. I was in college and we were both broke. My birthday is a month before too, and Clayton had just gotten me a pretty pricey promise ring. We kept things pretty low key to say the least.

We are both always raising the bar when it comes to gifts. We really like to out-do each other, which is super fun. I've been planning Clayton's Valentine's day gift for MONTHS, but I will say he really up-ed his game for my birthday this year! You can read more about that here! Long story short, I knew that I wanted to go big this year and I think I just might have managed to do so ;)

What He's Been Waiting For

Clayton has been talking about wanting to go to a Hawks game for as long as I've known him. He's been to 1 game when he was little, but hasn't been since. My 1st game was for my 21st birthday and of course I was dying to go back too. Long before Valentines day was even being discussed, I bought 2 tickets to the Hawks Vs. Capitals game this upcoming weekend! I've been keeping this secret since August people....and it's the hardest thing I've had to do! There have been several times that Clayton has mentioned wanting to get tickets to a game and I've had to make some excuse as to why we couldn't go. It was seriously torture!

His reaction was worth it all! He didn't believe me at first and then reality set it. I handed him the tickets and he hugged me so hard. It might seem trivial to be that excited for a game, but between being busy and money being tight, making it up to Chicago for a game is often a stretch. It felt so good to be able to surprise him with something I knew he's been wanting for a long time!

He Knows Me

To me, V-day is kind of a big deal. I know a lot of people don't buy into the holiday, and that's fine, but for me I just see it as a reminder to shower our loved ones with extra appreciation. Clayton and I both know what holidays and occasions are special to each of us and we make an effort to make sure we both get to enjoy those holidays to the fullest. Valentines day was something that I always grew up loving and my family always made it special. Now that I'm with Clayton, he knows that it's something I look forward to and does his absolute best to make sure I have a good V-day! I don't need a parade or anything, but I appreciate when Clayton goes to any extra effort to make me feel special. This year I came home to a vase full of roses, chocolates and new Michael Kors earrings and a bracelet. He knows that is pretty much my favorite brand when it comes to accessories, so he did good!

Looking at the stuff he picked out, I wouldn't have picked those up myself, but I'm actually in love with them! I am going to wear them when we head out to Chicago this weekend!

Here's the bracelet in gold. Mine is rose gold

How Was Your V-Day?

Let me know how your V-day went! Get anything super special or exciting or did you guys keep it low key? Also, we are headed to the Hawks game this weekend and I would love if you have any tips or suggestions on what to do or try before we head to the game!
